Interiors (and attic spaces)
The home inspector shall observe:AtticThe home inspector shall also:
- walls, ceiling, and floors
- steps, stairways, balconies, and railings
- counters, and a representative number of cabinets
- a represantive number of doors and windows
- operate a representative number of windows and interior doors
- report signs of abnormal or harmful water penetration into the building or signs of abnormal or harmful condensation on the building components
The home inspector shall observe:
- insulation and vapor retarders in unfinished spaces
- ventilation of attic and foundations
- the operation of any readily accessible attic ventilation fan, and, when temperature permits, the operation of any readily accessible thermostatic control
THESE STANDARDS OF PRACTICE ARE NOT INTENDED TO LIMIT HOME INSPECTORS FROM :
- reporting observations and conditions or rendering opinions of items in addition to those required in Purpose and Scope.
- excluding systems and components from the inspection if requested by the client, and so stated in the written contract
